2024: Week 51 in Review
Another late review:
Sunday Morning (12-15): Off to the local coffee house for our regular Sunday morning meeting with friends. The wife stayed home, making chili for the evening's potluck. While waiting for friends to arrive I listened to Variations on a Rocco Theme with Rostropovich and the Berlin Philharmonic with Von Karajan. It’s a pure delight. Beautiful playing by both the soloist and orchestra.
It was really foggy. It was almost impossible to see the birds sitting on the wires across the river from the coffee house.
I’m working thru the MacSparky Shortcuts Field Guide. I’ve written a few useful shortcuts. A couple of them toggle lights using the Home app. One lets me dictate a new note to Apple Notes, and another lets me send my last photo to someone in iMessage. I’ve also added a couple new Watch shortcuts; a Washing Hands timer and a toggle for the bedroom light. I'm not sure I'll keep any of them; this is mainly and educational project.
There was a lovely snow on Friday. Big flakes and almost no wind. I love these kinds of storms.
Saturday was tree day. I try to stay out of the wife's way, but I did help hang the lights and put up some ornaments.
We had a couple of Christmas music playlists from Amazon Music going during the day. Those old Christmas songs really were well done. Those guys (and gals) really knew how to sing. I think Nat King Cole had the greatest voice of all of them. And his musical sense was superb. The list of newer ‘Christmas Rock’ music was a mixed bag, with some really nice work and some tasteless things. The big surprise was Lenard Skynard; very nice renditions of two songs. A lot of these tunes featured Chuck Berry type rock. I love Chuck Berry; he’s an authentic genius.
Onward to Christmas!
